Hi everyone, I am an Asian Canadian. My height has been a concern for me since my later twenties. A few years back, I believed I had overcome this issue mentally. Unfortunately, after reading a success story about limb lengthening, I realized I was mistaken. The first time I joined this forum was last September, and since then, I have become fixated on limb lengthening. I have spent countless hours reading about other patients’ journeys and researching various doctors’ profiles on both this forum and other websites. Despite coming across stories of individuals who faced disabilities post-limb lengthening, causing fear and hesitation in me, accounts like shyshy and yellowspike’s experiences with Dr. Guichet motivated me to schedule a consultation with him.01

Unfortunately, I was quite occupied with my work during the autumn of 2015, and I could only schedule an appointment to see Dr. Guichet in February 2016. This waiting period was truly lengthy for me. I really wished to undergo the limb lengthening process as soon as possible! Finally, I had my initial meeting with Dr. Guichet in Milan. He was friendly and well-informed, just as his other patients had described. He addressed all my inquiries and dispelled my uncertainties. However, he made one request, which was to enhance my leg strength by 30%. Fortunately, he agreed to allow me to undergo training at home, as long as it was supervised by a certified personal trainer.
Following over three months of intensive training with a competent personal trainer, I scheduled my second appointment with Dr. Guichet and booked my surgery for June. During my time at home, I reached out to Dr. Guichet multiple times via email, and he consistently replied personally. Most of the time, he responded to my emails within 3 days, unless he was occupied with surgical procedures.

I’m 165cm tall and aim to increase my height by 7cm in a little over two months. Given my age falls on the higher side of Dr. Guichet’s patients, he seems a bit cautious about the potential gains. He mentioned that he will assess my body’s response during the limb lengthening process, scheduled to commence on June 20. Excitingly, that’s next Monday!Last week, I got acquainted with a few of Dr. Guichet’s patients, including Mr.D from Canada and Mr.T from Australia, who underwent surgery two months ago. They both are really nice guys. Mr. D enjoys cracking jokes, especially when chatting with Francisca, our personal trainer. He appears laid-back and fortunate to have his entire family by his side. On the other hand, Mr. T remained composed while discussing the discomfort caused by a nail touching a nerve. It must be excruciating!
Currently, I am staying in Milan alone as my wife is occupied with work in Canada. Nevertheless, I have experience traveling solo, mostly for work, and made an effort to learn some Italian before arriving in Milan. Hopefully, I can navigate through life reasonably well once the limb lengthening process begins.

I had a very hectic week recently, especially yesterday and today. I had to do a lot of shopping, including purchasing an exercise bike that Dr. Guichet recommended using before clicking each time. Some patients who arrived earlier managed to have the bike delivered, but since it takes a week to ship, I opted to pick it up directly from the store. Additionally, I acquired a foldable walker and a pair of crutches, which I’ll start using soon. I also have a list of prescribed medications to purchase.Furthermore, I bought numerous sports shirts and socks to last at least two weeks without needing to be washed, as I aim to avoid that during the challenging initial stages of the limb lengthening process. I am also in the process of finalizing a list of food items that can support my well-being and growth for two weeks, and I have to buy all the groceries tomorrow. It’s quite a heavy workload!

Today, I captured an image of myself to document my flexibility prior to the limb lengthening procedure. I believe my flexibility is satisfactory, although my hamstrings continue to feel tense. I will focus on stretching them during the final two days leading up to my surgery.00 -

One day prior to my surgery and two days after Mr. D’s surgery, he graciously sent me his well wishes and valuable advice from the hospital. Following his recommendations, I quickly purchased additional shorts, t-shirts, and socks. Moreover, I acquired the final set of groceries for the initial two weeks of limb lengthening. Additionally, I completed my final workout session at the gym before the surgery. Do these arrangements suffice? I trust they do, unless an unforeseen circumstance arises, and I am confident that I have exerted maximum effort in my preparations.00 -
