      The Adventure Commences

Greetings everyone, a man in his early forties residing in the southern region of the nation here. Standing at nearly 5’5”, I have always desired to increase my height. My online searches, particularly on YouTube, have been sporadic until this year when I delved deeper into the topic. It became apparent that options for limb lengthening surgery in India are limited, despite the existence of several hospitals providing such procedures. Upon inquiring, I encountered some reluctance to assist with the journey, which is a crucial aspect of cosmetic limb lengthening surgery. However, I stumbled upon Dr. Hirdesh Kumar’s (Dr. Harry) comprehensive YouTube videos that resonated with me. His approach was precisely what I was seeking – a holistic package where the doctor exudes confidence and assumes responsibility from start to finish. The inclusion of real patient testimonials instilled a great deal of confidence in me. After contacting him and engaging in a pleasant conversation where various aspects were discussed, I opted for cross lengthening as my sole opportunity to attain the maximum height possible. Although the timing was initially undecided, personal matters swiftly fell into place, leading me to Delhi soon after.
My surgical procedure took place on the third day post my arrival, involving the right femur (external monorail) and left tibia (Ilizarov). Undeniably, the femur segment was more challenging than the tibia. The initial post-operative period was quite painful, necessitating continuous intravenous administration of painkillers, particularly due to the axial torsional force exerted by the monorail frame on the thigh. Placing a small pillow beneath for additional support was essential. A portable laptop table proved to be incredibly convenient for meals and other activities, now becoming my closest companion. Currently, I have achieved a 10 mm increase in both my femur and tibia, and I have embarked on taking cautious steps with the aid of a walker. The journey has been arduous for me, disrupting my sleep pattern and causing initial discomfort during bowel movements. While my right knee flexion is gradually improving, I continue to experience occasional pain around the femur pin site. Additionally, I rely on a rolling office chair for transportation to the bathroom. The experience varies from person to person, demanding significant mental fortitude and dedication from the individual undergoing the lengthening process. Dr. Hirdesh, with his extensive experience and professionalism, has been incredibly supportive and understanding of my needs and preferences, consistently reassessing and making necessary adjustments. Each day shows signs of improvement, presenting new challenges and experiences. The fact that I am progressing daily and under expert care makes this journey worthwhile. I will continue to share updates on my progress as this exciting chapter has just commenced.

Things have gotten better since my previous post. In a few days, I will be achieving 20mm of turning in my right femur and left tibia. I will soon have an x-ray to confirm the progress. There is regular muscular pain in my left calf and noticeable discomfort at the top pins of the femur, although it is bearable for now. The flexion in my right knee is gradually getting better with physiotherapy. I am grateful to Dr. Harry for proceeding cautiously. I have been walking almost every day with the assistance of a walker, and my balance and strength are slowly improving. Currently, I can manage to take 10-15 steps, which is quite an accomplishment in itself. Another day, another millimeter.

It’s been some time since my previous post, and the updates have been quite positive. In a recent X-ray, we discovered that I have increased by nearly 4.5 cm in each segment. This is quite remarkable, especially given the need for a few days of rest for each segment. I am aiming to undergo the initial removal surgery shortly once I achieve a gain of slightly over 5 cm in each segment.

My starting height is 164 cm. I aim to make a 12 cm gain through limb lengthening (6+6), ultimately aspiring to reach a height of 176 cm.
