Alright, so I just finished a call with Dr. Shah (his assistant picked up initially and, funny enough, doesn’t speak a lick of English lol).
Dr. Shah mentioned that the total expense for limb lengthening with the Precise 2 nail, covering all hospital charges and a week’s stay in the hospital, is $40,000USD (FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS!). He also provides his patients the choice to go home (in my scenario, Canada) to undergo lengthening, only coming back to India to have the nail locked and the transponder returned. Naturally, there’s the extra surgery needed to take the nails out 1 to 2 years post-initial surgery (the cost of which I foolishly forgot to ask him). I believe this is wonderful news! He says he has “performed this procedure before,” but I couldn’t get a number on how many times. I’m set to do my tibias in April 2024, but if this price stays the same in a year or two (dreaming), I’ll be heading there for my femurs.
