I was supposed to undergo the surgery the following day upon arrival, but due to my anxiety, I had to postpone it for another 2 days. Staying at the Titanic Hotel, I found the staff to be very friendly. On the first night, my card didn’t work, yet they allowed me to stay overnight without payment, as foreign cards seem to have issues here. The night before the limb lengthening surgery, I felt overwhelmed, spending hours watching motivational videos to boost my mental strength. Reading accounts of how brutal and regretful some people found the surgery added to my anxiety. When the day of the surgery arrived, I was brought to the hospital, where I had an IV needle inserted, leading to a panic attack—something common for me when under stress. The experience in the operating room is mostly a blur after that. Waking up, a nurse instructed me not to move. I experienced a brief episode of shivering, which wasn’t as intense as others had described. Perhaps those cold showers I took beforehand helped with that. Surprisingly, the pain level was only around 1-2 out of 10, much lower than expected post-surgery. The initial moments after waking up were fuzzy due to the lingering effects of the anesthesia. One challenging aspect was having a sore throat before the surgery, and now I can hardly speak. I can only perform simple ankle movements, with the goal of working on bending my knees throughout the day. After an hour, the pain level decreased to a 1 out of 10, but the restriction in leg movements was bothersome. I plan to provide updates as these detailed diaries have been a source of comfort; I hope to offer support to others going through a similar experience. Additionally, the hospital environment is excellent, with LiveLifeTaller even furnishing their internet modem to ensure patients have reliable internet connectivity.
