My present partner was dissatisfied with her nose, so she opted for a rhinoplasty. After some time, I introduced her to my family without mentioning the surgery. Despite receiving compliments about her “nose,” both she and I chose not to disclose the procedure. This decision stems from the fact that individuals tend to undervalue those who undergo cosmetic surgeries, especially if the outcomes appear unnatural. It’s akin to someone being perceived as attractive for their height, like a man who is 5’10” receiving praise for being tall. However, if it were revealed that he previously stood at 5’7″ due to limb lengthening surgery, people might dismiss his appeal as merely the result of surgical enhancement. Regrettably, societal perceptions often work this way. I am planning to increase my height by approximately 6 cm through limb lengthening. Only my partner will be aware of this decision as she will be the one caring for me. Other family members need not be informed as some things are better kept private without reflecting negatively on one’s character.
