I was wondering if any of you have lifted weight while undergoing limb lengthening/consolidation. Of course, leg workouts aren’t doable. But what about arm and upper body exercises? I’d like to maintain my strength there even while lengthening.

If you can achieve that, it is advantageous due to the blood circulation.

Just remember one key point. When engaging in activities such as push-ups, despite them not being specifically for the legs, there will be a horizontal pressure exerted on the legs, which could pose a risk if the legs have not completely solidified, or if weight-bearing nails are not present.

It is theoretically feasible, but in practice, it is unattainable unless you have a caregiver/physical therapist accompanying you.

Your primary issue lies in how you will load the bars with weights when both your arms are needed for crutches. Trying to lift dumbbells from the rack while standing will exert more pressure on your nails, and if you opt to lift them while seated, you face the challenge of transferring the dumbbells to your seated position.

Pull-ups/chin-ups are completely ruled out since you cannot risk ‘crashing’ back to the ground on your nails, making any standard gym pull-up bar too high. As for lat pulldowns, the dilemma arises as you require your arms to lower yourself onto the bench and also to grasp the pulldown bar as you descend – rendering it practically impossible.

In essence, unless you enlist someone to assist you in loading weights and transferring dumbbells to your seated location, engaging in any weightlifting activities is unachievable. Moreover, performing exercises on crutches is entirely unfeasible, and the exertion involved in bringing a wheelchair to a commercial gym is considerable. Rest assured, regardless of how determined or motivated you may consider yourself to be, the practicality of accomplishing this task is non-existent.

Fitness enthusiasts believe that if they abstain from maximum lifting for a week, their perceived “efforts” will diminish.

Picture investing over $50,000 in the crucial limb lengthening surgery and still feeling the need to incorporate liftingmaxx into their routine, despite the challenges of physical therapy and daily tasks now being significantly more strenuous and draining than previously.

No individual I encountered while undergoing limb lengthening managed to maintain their gym routine throughout the distraction period—not a single one.

The truth of the matter is that the significant hassle of using a wheelchair to get in and out of a taxi is sufficient to completely abandon the notion. Furthermore, many activities become inaccessible once you arrive, assuming the gym accommodates wheelchairs at all. Most gyms are unsuitable due to either having steps or closely packed machines that hinder wheelchair navigation.

The location I intend to visit will offer round-the-clock personal assistance, so obtaining dumbbells through a helper should not pose a problem.

I began lifting around the third day after the operation. It would be quite challenging to go to the gym, but I do have some dumbbells at home. The workouts are satisfactory, although it greatly relies on whether the pain permits.

I began weight lifting 2 months following the surgery. Of course, I focused only on the upper body. At that point, my limb lengthening was about 6 / 8 cm.
