After years of waiting, I now have the opportunity to undergo limb lengthening. I was originally considering the procedure in the USA, but that changed after the recall of the stryde device. I am now contemplating between Betz in Germany, where people are known to be perfectionists, and Gotikas, which is cheaper and involves IT band release. In Germany, there is no IT band involvement, while in Greece, there has been a reported fatality. Any thoughts on this matter? The only constraints are that I can only take 6 weeks off work and that the procedure must involve a weight-bearing nail. Any suggestions?

At that price point, Birkholtz in South Africa. No weight bearing option though.

Dr. Giotikas, who is more cost-effective (with psychio included) and provides equivalent, if not superior, expertise, avoids excessively lengthening limbs like Betz, who may engage in. Recent cases have shown unethical limb overlengthening of around 12.5 CM on femurs, surpassing the established safe boundary of 8 cm. This practice disregards patient safety, emphasizing patient satisfaction above all else.

Opting for limb lengthening outside the summer season also ensures better weather conditions in Athens compared to consistently cold regions like Germany or Denmark. Enduring a chilly climate, especially during limb lengthening procedures, adds unnecessary challenges, such as bundling up in layers and facing gloomy weather daily.

      Both options are excellent selections.

Disregard the weather because you won’t spend much time outdoors anyway. The fatigue resulting from this surgery is challenging.

Six weeks is insufficient; do yourself a favor and allow yourself a more extended break. If that necessitates finding a new job later, then do so.

I would recommend conducting further research. Select the most suitable doctor for your requirements. Currently, the primary internal weight bearing nails are those that you specified.

How can you be sure that Giotikas does not overextend the limb lengthening of his patients?

In an interview with Cyborg4life, he mentioned that he aims to fulfill the patient’s desired height during limb lengthening procedures. However, he is cautious not to allow overlengthening and only occasionally exceeds 8 cm using the g-nail, especially for patients who already have a tall starting height.

On the other hand, Betz is known for lengthening many patients well beyond the safety standard of 8 cm. One patient even underwent a 12.3 cm lengthening on their femurs, significantly raising the risk of complications. It is advisable to limit the lengthening to 8 cm if choosing Betz for the procedure. Only Betz and LivelifeTaller seem to consider this approach acceptable, according to the interview.

Reality is both Betzbone and Gnail are internal clicking nails, therefore neither doctor has the authority to compel you to cease limb lengthening, Betz is simply pragmatic about this. If the patient desires to click and lengthen further, they can (and frequently do) regardless of the doctor’s instructions.

Giotikas is cheaper but has the same amount of quality than Betz. Anyways, you’d have to choose between Europe and USA, and Europe wins due to lower prices.
