    How does the procedure progress post-surgery if the accommodation package is not opted for? Will I need to seek out a different doctor for follow-up processes like X-rays, consolidation, and addressing infections? Will they provide guidance on physiotherapy exercises and wound care? How can I recognize if there’s an infection? Can a local orthopedist assist with infection-related issues? Insights from someone who underwent surgery abroad and then returned home would be greatly appreciated.

      Do I need to choose the accommodation package if my doctor is an hour’s drive away? Do I need to be with my doctor and his team around the clock? Is it reasonable to undergo this surgery with a surgeon who focuses more on correcting deformities like limb lengthening rather than cosmetic procedures?

      Firstly, if you have the means, opt for a precise nail for femurs. It is significantly safer and more comfortable. Refraining from selecting the accommodation part is illogical unless you have a personal connection in the country or reside nearby, given that the same doctor will still monitor you.       Issue is, any orthopedic specialist without specific knowledge about limb lengthening surgery will not be helpful. It needs to be a physician who already has dealt with these procedures. Additionally, in case of any complications, only your own doctor will be ready to handle your situation. Therefore, many surgeons insist that patients stay in contact with them, at a minimum for weekly check-ups. It is crucial not to neglect any significant untreated problems stemming from prior LL surgery.

      I believe you should be aware of your whereabouts. It is similar to visiting the emergency room and being alone after undergoing surgery. There are no doctors available to discuss your condition. Your parents will pick you up from the hospital, and then you will be on your own. You will need to go to the hospital by yourself for X-rays and other procedures, then follow up with the doctor afterward.

      That is the simple aspect. The issue is, what if a non-union or another disaster happens? You will require another surgery, typically your doctor will be ready to conduct this.

      I would recommend staying in touch with your LL surgeon in case complications such as non-union arise. It’s crucial not to be uninformed throughout the process, and the doctor should be actively involved in this aspect as well.
