In short, I am not pursuing limb lengthening (LL) solely for cosmetic purposes but to address a genuine imbalance in my humorous bones. This procedure is obviously very costly, so I am interested to hear from anyone who has undergone LL for correction purposes and whether they received financial assistance from their insurance provider, and if so, how they obtained it. I reside in the USA and have coverage through Kaiser Permanente and Cigna, so I am hopeful that one of these may offer assistance.

Kaiser covered my surgery for a limb length discrepancy. I had a great experience with them, just had to do my homework to find the right surgeon. I found the surgeon on my own and then requested a referral to him.

You will address the discrepancy issue regarding limb lengthening. The expense associated with equalizing the length of your shorter limb with the longer one is considered a medic condition that can be insured. Schedule an appointment with your primary care physician, express your worries…you will receive a recommendation to see an orthopedic surgeon, who will then direct you to another specialist who specializes in LL procedures (as you may already be aware, orthopedic surgeons have their specific areas of expertise). You will also be granted FMLA leave from your job since this is a medical intervention aimed at rectifying an issue, and not just a CLL procedure. Proceed with the process before it leads to hip or back discomfort, especially if it hasn’t already! Wishing you the best of luck
