From my understanding, humerus lengthening is perceived as less risky than CLL, but the benefits are also less significant, making it less necessary. However, there seems to be a common perception on this platform that humerus lengthening is more dangerous, which may not align with the actual risks. This community should focus more on scientific research to avoid biases towards negative outcomes. It has been stated that the humerus is a favorable location for bone lengthening. Research suggests that humerus lengthening has a comparable healing index to lower limb bones, with a faster functional recovery period. While tibial or femoral lengthening may take around 32 months for functional recovery, humerus lengthening only requires 8 months.
In cases where individuals undergo extreme lengthenings, such as 8cm to address CLL, initial limitations may pose challenges similar to or worse than CLL. However, utilizing a WB nail, as done by Paley, could potentially make the process less arduous in the long term. Unlike leg lengthenings, increasing both arms’ length results in a doubled wingspan for every 5cm of lengthening.
For individuals with sufficient resources, staggering the lengthening procedures by a few weeks, though incurring additional costs for the second nail, could be a more manageable approach, especially when using a WB nail. It would be valuable to hear the perspectives of others and identify any conflicting research studies.

People on here tend to advise against it, and I’m pleased that a doctor shares the same view.Is the rotator cuff injury lasting or permanent? I see myself as a prospective humerus lengthening patient, probably with you, so I’m interested in knowing the implications.

Hello, one of my arms is shorter than the other due to an accident when I was young. Does anyone know how expensive it is to undergo this operation for the humerus?00 -
