I am contemplating undergoing femur LON for increasing my height to at least 178.1. Do I need to remain in the same city as my doctor throughout the entire process, or can I stay at home and send them x-rays via email?
2. How frequent is the occurrence of infections during this procedure?
3. Will a regular orthopedic doctor be sufficient for evaluating my x-rays? (If staying in the same city as my surgeon is not feasible for me, can I have the surgery done by a competent surgeon and then follow up with a regular orthopedic doctor and physiotherapist?)
4. What is the waiting period for the removal of external devices if I intend to lengthen by 6-7 cm (2.5-2.75 inches)?
5. How long does it take to recover and resume normal activities such as walking, kneeling, running, and squatting?
Thank you.00

It is advisable to remain in the same city as your doctor to address any infections effectively.
Superficial infections frequently occur in LON. With proper wound care, it should not be an issue; however, without it, the infection could potentially reach the bone. I estimate that the complete process can be accomplished within a timeframe of 6 to 7 months.00 -

Thank you for your response. Can physicians in my town assist me with infections? How can I combat infections and how can I treat them? (antibiotics or additional surgeries for removal)00 -

The cure for the infection depends on the type of infection. It is essential for an Orthopedist to assess and recommend the appropriate antibiotics for you. I am unsure if a physician in your area will agree to treat you since they might refer you to the facility where you underwent surgery. 🤷🏻♂️00 -

I will be undergoing surgery (LON FEMUR) in a city located 200 miles away from my own, and my intention is to return home approximately 30 days post-surgery.Subsequently, I will be visiting the doctor’s city every 10 to 15 days, unless the situation worsens.
However, this is merely a tentative arrangement, and if the doctor deems it necessary for me to remain in their city throughout the entire duration, I will comply.

You are fortunate in that case. 200Miles isn’t too distant. You can start your journey and reach there in 3 hours if something occurs.00 -

Femur limb lengthening operations at numerous clinics may lack safety measures concerning post-operative care. Failure to administer antibiotics promptly upon detecting any infection signs and inadequate daily cleaning of pinsites are common issues. Joint stiffness often arises post-operation, necessitating extensive physical therapy to prevent complications. Pain levels during femur limb lengthening with LON are considerably higher than those with Precice. In summary, opting for Precice over LON, if financially viable either presently or soon, is recommended due to the significant advantages outweighing the expenses.
